Whether you got up on the wrong side of the bed or someone said something to you that set you off, there are a few things you can do to perk yourself back up. Today, I'm going to share with you 7 things that add to my happiness on a day to day basis.
I like to keep things fairly simple, so let's get to it!

#1: Take a walk
Getting out to get some fresh air is always helpful, even if it's just a walk around the block. During your walk, focus on appreciating the wind blowing on your face, the sky, the green grass and trees, and the little wild life you see along the way. I was out for a walk last week at a nearby park, and a little lizard surprised me. It was the cutest thing. That put a huge smile on my face. Be thankful for the earth and the beauty of it.
#2: Treat yourself
If it's a hot day, treat yourself to a sweet iced tea or lemonade. If it's cold out, grab a hot chocolate or cup of coffee. Focus on the deliciousness. My favorite drink during the day is a decaf coffee with sweet vanilla soy milk. Be thankful for your taste buds and the variety of things you can taste.
#3: Work out
A quick 30 minute work out will help you relieve some stress. You'll feel good about showing your body some love. I like to practice yoga a few times a week. I always feel so good and refreshed after. Be thankful for body.
#4: Watch some funny animal videos
Conjure up a few laughs. You can't deny how cute and funny animals are. Google "funny animals" and have a good laugh. Be thankful for laughter.

#5: Spend time with someone who makes you laugh
There's always that one friend that makes you laugh at the silliest things. Get a "pick me up" by spending some time with him or her today or have a quick chat by phone. No matter how long it's been between phone calls, my best friend and I always laugh like not a moment has gone by. Be thankful for those closest to you.
#6: Do something nice for yourself
No matter how big or small, do something nice for yourself to show appreciation for "you". A one-hour chair massage or a long hot bath with oils are my two favorite things to do. Relax and be thankful for your life.

#7: Write down 10 things you're thankful for
Even though there may be something dragging you down today, there is always something to be grateful for. It may seem pointless right now, but grab a piece of paper and start writing. Only focus on the things you are thankful for - things, places, or people that make you happy. As you write those happy things down, visualize them as well. For example, if you have children, imagine their smile, laughter, or something silly they did.
Snapping out of a funk is not always easy, but what you focus on in those moments make all the difference.
Wishing you all the best.
Until next time,
