Chances are you discovered this blog because you were looking for something to help you find happiness or success.
You feel overrun, overworked, or overwhelmed by your life at the moment and you just don’t know how to break free.
You feel stuck.
You’re not alone.
Are you disappointed? Sure. Frustrated? Yes. Confused? Certainly.
Defeated? Absolutely not.
You’ve been through the ringer. You’re still standing! You’ve been kicked when you were down. You’re still standing! You were betrayed, let down, disappointed. Dammit, you’re still standing! You've proven time and time again that you will not be defeated.
It’s time to focus on getting back on track today. At times, my tips may not feel comfortable. You’ve got to be willing to get out of your comfort zone and do some things that challenge you to think and behave differently than you’re used to.
Improvement means change. So get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
It’s time for a change. You deserve it.
You probably spend time thinking about what you want in life, but how often do you visualize it?
Today, I want to leave you with an exercise. Tonight, I want you to set aside 15 minutes. No spouse, no children, just you. Find a quiet place. Maybe that’s lying in bed, sitting on the patio or balcony, or a private space somewhere in your home. Eliminate all distraction. No TV. No radio. No cell phone. No chatter. Be comfortable. Close your eyes.
Ask yourself this one question:
What would life look like for you if you got the one thing you want most?
Doesn’t matter what it is as long as it is currently alive or tangible. Doesn’t matter how big it is.
Close your eyes and visualize it.
If it’s a person. See their face. Feel them. Smile and see them smile back. Give them a hug. Talk to them.
If it’s a place. See every detail of it. What it looks like and smells like. Focus on what it feels like to finally be there. Imagine yourself there right now. What are you wearing? Walk around and enjoy the scenery. Touch things.
If you’re at the beach, feel the sand between your toes. A new house? Feel the floor with your bare feet.
If it’s a new job, see yourself in your new workplace. Interact with your co-workers.
If it’s money, visualize yourself receiving it. Get excited. Act how you would imagine yourself if you received the money in real life. Go shopping. How are you dressed? What are you buying?
If you find yourself veering off track, focus back. Visualize your life for 15 minutes with your eyes closed. I want you to really feel it and live in that moment. Imagine every little sight, texture, and sound.
Repeat this visualization exercise as many nights per week as you can fit in.
Today is a great day to start. If you’re serious about change, be sure to embrace what that change would look like and feel like.
Tip #2: Practice the Transformative Power of Gratitude
Until next time,
Cheers!
